This delicate tribal filigree hair clip is made of silver tone alloy and is approximately 40-50 years old. It was handmade by the Turkmen nomadic group.

There are leaf-like cut outs at the end of the fringe used as a means to ward off the evil eye. The back clip grips to your hair, but could easily be converted to a pendant. This piece is vintage and has slight patina that adds to its character and charm.

The Turkmen people lived for centuries in the old Silk Road Trade Route that connects the East and the West. This region is present day Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and parts of Kazakhstan and Afghanistan. 

 It has also been claimed that Turkmen women fought alongside their men in battle and that their impressive jewelry mimicked the look of armor.
